EMOTIONS: UNDERSTANDING THEM AND THEIR PURPOSE
What are emotions? Quite simply described, emotions are like a compass. They help us to navigate this vast ocean we call the human experience. Emotions are perceived as sensations in the body. If one is tuned in and self aware, emotions help them to determine if they are going in the right direction towards their desires and purpose in life. We have all incarnated here with an agenda, a purpose in which we must discover on our path towards divine awareness. We are born as a whole and pure baby human being. Life experiences cause us to become fractured. As we navigate through life, our parents essentially have a hand in shaping our perception of reality as well as how we understand emotions and our complex relationship with emotions. Socialization has caused a confused understanding of emotions. Are you one that hides from emotions and keeps anger or fear bottled up? Perhaps you were encouraged to express your emotions in a healthy way and thus better cope with this reality. Regardless of your unique core belief about emotions, they are very important.
Emotions are the underlying current in life. They are what makes us human. Emotions are always there, giving us signals, screaming out, regardless if we choose to listen or not. We can all perceive of our physical body form, much like this body we also have an emotional or feeling body. During life, these two bodies can become fractured from each other. It must be understood that the emotional body can never become broken but rather we lose touch with it and therefore ignore its cries. Some can become so out of touch with their emotions that they can no longer feel. A common way to avoid feeling is by existing primarily in the mind or mental body. One will tend to create a distraction to or an aversion to the emotion. At this point, one is navigating the vast dark oceans without a compass. We have lost awareness of perspective at this point and there is a disconnect from the higher self.
Let's consider for a moment that everything in the universe is a thought. We are a thought and then our own thoughts become separate points of free will within the universe. Source energy or divine consciousness is always aiming for a new perspective. Perspective is gained through thought. Essentially, we as humans have now become two perspectives. The perspective of our higher self and the perspective of our physical human self. Source energy only knows itself through thought, we have become thought and therefore source energy only knows what we tell it. Now lets stop and sit with this knowledge for a moment. Our experiences in life create thoughts and thus create different emotions. From here were are able to conceive of what we want in life or rather our desires. Basically we are telling source energy what IS with every thought. Desire is a very important and strong emotion, it is with desire that source knows itself and where to place itself. Our desires essentially cause the expansion of the universe. It is also important to remember that we are all unique expressions of the one divine. Although we each have a unique perspective, we are still ultimately one.
Love and happiness are a natural state of being for us. These emotions are the direction of our true purpose. If we are following our path of true purpose, we are doing what makes us feel good. As stated before, emotions serve as signals and guides pointing is back in the direction of purpose. It is important to go in the direction of your desires. When a negative emotion is experienced, we must accept it for what it is and experience it. It's an opportunity for new perspective. It is a signal that we are going in the wrong direction and that we most stop and take notice. Emotions act as doorways to the subconsciousness. It is important to stop at this point and ask, what is limiting me? Society has been quick to label negative emotions as something bad. Coping has become a way to override negative emotions. It is important to see all emotions for what they are, a guidance system.
When a negative emotion is experienced it is important to acknowledge it. Take note of any physical sensations in the body. Is there an increased heart rate or perhaps a tightening of the chest? This is a process of becoming more self aware. At this point one may ask why they are having these sensations and corresponding emotion. By backtracking and surveying the preceding events, one can identify what may have triggered the emotions and sensation. Simply by stepping through this process and becoming more self aware, one finds that the current emotion will begin to fade. Simply be shifting our perspective, acknowledging the emotion and sitting with it, we can get ourselves back on track and pointed in the direction of our desires.
It may be necessary to further explore your core beliefs related to emotions. What is your relationship with emotions? Were you shamed for feeling a certain way? Were you told that you were not allowed to grieve when you needed to? Its time to heal your core belief in respect to emotions. A way to do this is to identify the first time your felt a particular emotion. Travel back. Typically this leads one back to childhood. It is important to revisit that inner child and comfort them in that first experience and thus begin to repair and heal. " I am here with you now, it's ok". This is a process and can be further explored in a future post!
And so it is. Emotions are a natural part of being human and they must be experienced properly in order for us to ascend as spiritual beings.
